Hip Joint Pain

There are a lot of common causes for hip joint pain. Because there are a lot, this can be confusing to the person as to why they are having it. It is imperative that when you have this type of pain, you need to get the appropriate diagnosis in order to get the right treatment.

If the right treatment is not administered, it could only make the problem and pain worse. The most common causes for having this type of pain include arthritis, Bursitis, Trochanteric Bursitis, Tendonitis, Osteonecrosis, Lumber pain in your back, Snapping Hip Syndrome, muscle strains, hip fractures, and stress fractures.

It is rather hard to diagnose yourself, what is causing your hip joint pain. This is why it is important to seek the advice of your doctor. If you try to treat your hip pain on your own, only to find that you had a fracture, you could turn that slight fracture into a break.

This could cause you to have to have hip replacement instead of a natural treatment. There are several signs that you can look for in order to determine rather you should see your doctor or not.

If your hip joint pain makes it very uncomfortable to walk, or you can't walk at all, then seek a doctor. Other signs include any injury that you encounter that will cause a deformity around the hip area, pain that occurs at night and that keeps you from sleeping, and pain that lasts for three days or more.

If you cannot bend at your hip, or you notice that there is swelling in your hip area, you should seek your doctor. You also want to make an appointment with your doctor if you are having signs of fever or redness at your hip area.

Once you see your doctor and he or she has determined what the hip joint pain is from, then you can move on to getting treatment for it. There are many ways in order to treat hip problems. The first way is simply by getting some rest. You need to rest the hip joint so that any inflammation that is within the joint can heal.

You can use a crutch or a walker in order to keep from putting too much stress on your hips if you do have to walk somewhere. Another treatment is ice and heat. For an injury to your hip, you will want to apply ice, especially if there is any kind of swelling around the area.

You will use heat on your hip joint pain if the cause is some type of arthritis or other chronic inflammation. This will allow the joint and muscles around the joint to relax. Stretching and physical therapy is also another good treatment. For joints to stay healthy, they need to have a  range of motion.

Gently exercising and stretching helps to keep them limber and lose. Doctors will also prescribe medication that is anti-inflammatory, which often helps to relieve a lot of discomfort that a person could have in their hips.
